Nice to meet you
Spring Cove Yacht Club is a non-profit volunteer organization that plans and conducts events on the water and shoreside for the enjoyment and benefit of its members.
We gather throughout the year at various land and sea events, planned and hosted by our members. No clubhouse to maintain, no high-priced dues, just great people mingling on or near the water.
While opportunities abound, the true highlight of the club is the strong community and lasting friendships developed among members. Few things surpass the chance to explore our world-renown cruising grounds among the company of good friends.
A Tradition of Pride
Pleasure boating, frequently called yachting, is over 300 years old, and in that time sailors have developed many traditions, ceremonies, and courtesies that add enjoyment in many ways. No one has to adhere to them to operate a boat competently, but they make the sport more meaningful and enjoyable.
Origin of yacht clubs. In 1720 the Water Club of Cork (Ireland) was formed. It was actually a coast guard and cruising association. The club developed a formal protocol, including a dress code. The New York Yacht Club was formed in 1844 and is generally regarded as the oldest.
